Our Fresh Start message series continued this week with a focus on “Intellectual Fitness.” This is an area about which it has always been possible for me to speak with some genuine passion. I love learning, and my faith journey is one in which grappling with new questions and seeking out new insights have played a significant role. Still, I recognize the challenges that we face in this arena.
For starters, some are not ‘naturally inclined’ to be perpetual students. But even those who are bump up against the time constraints that most of us struggle with. And–in a culture that is awash in information–discerning the difference between ‘knowledge’ and ‘wisdom’ can be extremely difficult. Finally, as I try to emphasize in this sermon, it is one thing to know truth; it is another thing to live truth. Perhaps our “intellectual fitness” never really comes full circle until the things we learn become the things we practice.
What do you think? Give a listen and let me know…
