I was back in the pulpit again today after a brief hiatus during which my congregation observed Youth Sunday. We started a 4-week series of messages organized around the theme “Major Truths from Minor Prophets”. I’ve always felt that these ‘lesser known’ biblical figures deliver a surprisingly relevant word to us today…especially when we take the time to see how the message God delivered through them still speaks so powerfully to the human condition.
My effort started this morning with a sermon on Jonah, who reluctantly helps us wrestle with the unexpected breadth of God’s mercy. I felt like the message was well-received, and I have some hope that the lesson about grace is being and will be applied in the life of my congregation now and in the days ahead.
How wide do you draw the circle of grace?
